An Amusing Libel Action.

(Per Press Association.) Sydney, December 6. An amusing label action ia now engaging the attention of the Courts. Besomo, a phrenologist and matrimonial agent, is suing Detective Keating for £1000 damages. According to plaintiffs case an elderly German entered into negotiations with him to prooure himu a wife, but negotiations fell through. The : notorious Tichborne witness, Jean Luie, then undertook to get tiie German a wife, and the wife he procured was a man dressed as a woman with a veil over his face. Subsequently abogus writ was served on the German for breach of promise, and he paid Luie £129 to settle < the action. Luie and the supposed wife were prosecuted for conspiracy, and obtaining money by fraud. Besomo was called as a witness against them somo time afterwards. Besomo met Keating at a pnblic honse. The latter asked bim to have a drink and proposed an impromptu debate. Besomo acted as chairman during the debate, and he alleged Keating made a speech before a^umber ; of people in the Gatheredinroom,aoci»* ; ing him of acting with Luie and procuring a bogus wife, and in the subsequent breach of promise action in the course d of the evidence plaintiff stated the Oerman kissed the false woman through the veil and this kiss formed the ground work for the breach of promise proceed* ines.
