The balance of the horses by the Southern Cross from Sydney averaged L2O. The Gulf of Lyons' hacks, averaged Ll4 Is. the top price being L 27 14s. The Times thinks it will be to the mutual advantage of England and the colonies if the latter support Mr Chamberlain's efforts. The native force of Boussas from the Gold Coast has began the march to Ashantee. Washington, Dec. 5. The Repnblicau press attack thetcurrency proposals of the President, and it is thought unlikely that Congress will adopt them. Ottawa, Dec. 4. The Canadian Government intend to start the management of the export trade in dressed meats, especially chilled beef, mutton, and poultry. They will open a storage depot in London, and retail shops in the chief centres. Sir C. Tnpper has been summoned to Ottawa in connection with the Atlantic and Pacific steamer and cable schemes. tfERMN. Dec. 5.
