Palmerston Hospital Board.

The annual meeting was held yesterday. Present— Messrs Ravenhill, Goodbehere, Bansome, Park, Lethbridge, Taylor, Harris, Kendall. n , Mr Goodebehere proposed Mr Park as Chairman of the Board for the ensuing year. Mr Park had done very good work for the Board since its inception, and was a gentleman in every way fitted to carry out the rerponsible duties oftbe office. Mr Ravenhill seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Mr "Park briefly returned thanks. On the motion of Mr Goodbehere, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Ravenhill for the highly satisfactory manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of Chairman, which Mr Ravenhill suitably acknowledged. It was mentioned that the sum of £413 was still outstanding from the contributing local bodies. Mr Park was unanimously re-elected treasurer for the ensuing year. With regard to the transference of the Board's banking account from the Colonial Bank to the Bank of New Zealand, the treasurer was authorised to wait upOn the Bank manager and inquire what rate of interest it' was proposed to charge on overdraft. The Secretary reported that the average cost of patients, including maintenance of buildings, was3sß|d per day, as against. 3s6d charged. The estimated cost for the ensuing year was 3s 10£ d.— Mr Taylor said he was pleased to find that the actual cost was so approximate to the charge. The Secretary reported upon the expenditure of charitable aid in the Manchester road district and suggested that steps be taken to reduce tbe expenditure. — Tbe Secretary was authorised to act upon particular suggestions in regard to certain cases. Mr Ravenhill was authorised to procure a microscope at Wellington. It was decided to call for tenders for annual supplies, and that the Execntive deal with them. Accounts were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.— Standard.
