Temperance Address at Birmingham.
■ -O ■' , ■• [VftOX OVa. OWW OOBBBSPOSDEST. J An address on the Temperance question was delivered in the Town Hall, Birmingham, on Tuesday evening last, the attendance being fair. ' Mr G: Anyon presided and introduced the lecturer, who gave a most lucid and interesting review of the latest phases of Temperance development, and of tbe present position of the Prohibition Party, showing that they had every reason to be satisfied with recent progress. In condu■ion, the lecturer appealed to his audi- **•—* not to rely on moral suasion alone, but by united political action to attain their ends. . _ . Prior to the address the following contributed songs :— Duet, 'The Minute Gun at Sea,' Mr Nissen and Miss Little; gong, Mrs Palmer ; song, « The Fisherman and his Child,' Mr Nissen ; song, ■Sweet Violets,' Miss Little; song, Mr Tolley ; duet, Miss Little and Mr Nissen. At the conclusion of the proceedings votes of thanks to Mr Field and the singles were proposed by Mr Mclntyre, seconded by Mt Palmer, and carried nnanimonaly.
