Rangiwahia Notes.
(FBOM A COB— SSPONDENT). To all appearance the very long, wet, and cold, winter bas finally ended, and hopes for shearing operations to be continued are much greater than they have been for weeks past. Farmers in all parts of this district are now busily engaped in mustering for shearing. I have heard of several having re-commenced i shearing last Monday, many of whom > are anxious to get their " clip " off as i it has already been sold at a very satisfactory price. 1 A scratch cricket match was played on ' the Rangiwahia cricket grounds last Saturday, when somo good bowling was done and scores made. The spectators were few, but much interest was evinced > in the game. The Apiti Minstrel Troupe gave an excellent entertainment, in the Town Hall, to a very large audience. The whole concern was worthy of considerable 1 praise. The following programme was gone through : Part I.— Song, " Walking floor with a baby," C. Goldring; song, " Little white cot by tbe mill," A. Buckman; song, "Little pie," W. Goldring; song, " Angels' voices in my dreams," H. Osborne ; song, " Climb up children climb," A. Phillips; song, "The old j chnrch on the hill," A. Morris ; song, j " Swinging in a great wide swing," I. Phillips; song, "Come down by the gates," C. Chillborough. The various choruses by the whole company were very good. Part H. — Step dance, T. and A. Phillips ; song, "In days before tbe war," C. Chillborough; song and step dance, J. Turner; song, "Dude," C. Goldring: "Plantation breakdown," a step dance, J. Turner; song, "Save a sunny smile for me," W. Goldring ; song, " Only to see her face again," G. Egitt ; Irish jig (encored), J. Turner and F. Phillips. The performance concluded with a laughable farce entitled " The jealous husband." Mr Carrey, of Rangiwabia, most kindly lent his piano for the performance. The 1.0. G.T. Lodge held a church parade on Sunday last, about half of the members taking part. Mr Hopper, from Mangaweka, preached an eloquent sermon on the occasion. Mrs Moffatt presided at the organ. Visiting brethren were present from Feilding, Campbelltown, and Levin Lodges. Mr J. Feetham met with a nasty accident last week while riding a restive horse at Ruahine. The horse reared up and fell back with its rider, with the result that Mr Feetham had his wrist dislocated.
