The Illegal Operation Case.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, December 4. J. H. Brown and Annie Brown were charged at the Supreme Court with having performed an illegal operation on Jessie Ann Elliott. This is a third case against the accused, upon which they had not been committed for trial, and Mr Jeliicoe raised a number of objections on legal points, which were over-rnled. His Honor^ however, offered to postpone the case till the 16th, to which the Crown objected on the ground that the delay would be likely to be attended with something not in the interests of justice. Eventually it was proposed to adjourn all three cases till the 16th, but Mr Jeliicoe, after consulting bis clients, refused, and applied to have the prisoners tried separately. This was granted, aud the case against Mrs Brown was , taken first, but only partly heard to-day. This Day. The charge of procuring abortion, preferred against Mrs Brown, is likely to occupy the Court all day and possibly tomorrow. !
