In Bankruptcy.
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of J. T. Hook, of Pohangina, a laborer, was held in the Feilding Court House yesterday afternoon. The D.O.A. Mr G. J. Scott, presided. Debtor, with his solicitor, Mr L. E. Reade, were present; also, Mr J. P. Cowie (£3 17s lid), and Messrs Kir ton and Curtis (LI 6s). The following is the list of liabilities and assets as filed : — Liabilities :— Bramwell Bros., £23 ; J. P. Cowie, £12 12s lid ; J. Taylor, £8 ; T. Smith, £26; E. King, £2; C. Selby, £i ; W. Pearson, £2 ; S. Palmer, £6.— Total, £83 12s lid. Assets —Household furniture and weai* ing apparel, £15. Debtor in his sworn statement attributed his bankruptcy to being out of work, his earnings only being about £40 for the past twelve months. He was laid up for about two years with a bad knee and back, and his family -were in delicate health. Debtor was examined by the D.O.A. and the creditors present as to his transactions, his debts having been incurred in the purchase of household goods and rent (due to Mr Selby). He was unable to make any offer for payment of a dividend. No resolutions were passed.
