NOVEMBER WEATHER, 1895.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — The rainfall for the past month *. was 573 inches, as against 263 inches for November, 1894, being the heaviest fall I have registered for tbe month of , November since I commenced my regis- 1 ter in 1883. Tbe greatest fall in one day was I*l4 inches, on the 17th, and | there were only five days during the ! month absolutely free from rain (a day reckoning from 9.30 a.m. one morning to 9.30 a.m. the next) — viz., the sth, 9th, 10th, 14th, and 30th. The mean temperature at 9.30 a.m. was 56 degrees, as against 59-86 degrees in November, 1894, and 61-66 degrees in November, 1893, and the mean maxima and minima temperatures for November, 1893, 1894, and 1895 were as follows, viz. :— N0v.,'93 : Max., 71.93deg ; mm., 48'66deg „ 94: „ (58-lOdeg; „ 4&-70deg „ 95: „ (>s"B6deg; „ 41-48deg I think these statistics, coupled with the observations contained in letters on the weather what you have lately published, will assist us in accounting for the inclement season which I hope we have now passed through.
