(Pee Press Association). Wellington, Novr. 28. There is a heavy calendar for the criminal session on Monday. The list comprises 28 cases. Fabian and Watts were committed for trial on a charge, of stealing stamps used on telegraph forms from the store where messages were deposited previous to being destroyed. The decision of the Court of Enquiry into the collision between the Wakatipu and Flora, was that Capt. Ewen, of the Flora, should pay costs, L 29 10s. The Court said if he had not been dismissed by the Union Company his certificate would have been suspended for some time, but under the circumstances there was no need to deal harshly with an officer who held a good record of ten years. Mr Gillon has taken medical advise in Sydney, and ascertained that the kidney disease from which he has been suffering is curable, but an immediate operation is necessary. He will go into a private hospital at once, and expects to be there three weeks. Napier, Nov. 29. During Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday 4p inches of rain fell in Napier. A big fresh is in the Wairoa, Mohaka and other rivers, and some damage has been caused in the country districts. A large number of slips on private properties destroyed considerable portions of pasture. One bridge was destroyed oh Gisbome-Wairoa road. Auckland, Nov. 29. Mr Davitt lectured to-night at the City Hall to a Jarge audience. The Hon J. A. Tole presided. Timaru, Nov. 28. Mr R.- A. Ghisholm, who has been manager of the Bank of New Zealand here for 83 years, takes charge of the In. vercargill branch, the late manager of the Colonial Bank at Invercargill succeeding Mr Chisholm here.
