The Stock Market.

Messrs Abr a ham and Williams report : Our sales for the week ending were held at Pahiatua and Palmerston. At the former on Tuesday wet weather.prevailed, but notwithstanding all the stock came forward. For cattle bidding was brisk throughout and all sold at improved rates. Sheep in short supply. At Palmerston yesterday there was a full yarding of cattle. Beef did not sell though an offer close to the reserve was made. A line of fresh 2^-yr steers exciteed keen j competition too, and sold at .£4 10s. The remainder of the stock was of average quality only. Indifferent milch cattle were neglected. Prices on the whole were rather easier than last week, although we sold the bulk. The supply of sheep were chiefly represented by a line of 1500 store wethers from Hawke's Bay. These were on the small side and this disadvantage was further increased by the fact of a large per centage of closewoolled sheep being in the line. Bidding was restricted to a few buyers who by auction and private treaty purchased the lot. The remainder of the sheep call for no special mention. Pahiatua : Forward steers, £5 : 2£-yr do. £'6 11s 6d ; yearling do. £2 6s to £2 8s 6d ; weaners, 17s to 41s ; 2.yr heifers, £2 6s ; springers L3 5s to L 4; 2-tooths mixed sexes, 6s 6d. Palmerston : Fat cows, L4 5s to L 5 3s ; 2|.yr steers, L 3 11s 6d to L 4 10s ; 18---months L 2 lls 6d ; yearling do. 25s 6d to 40s ; purebred Shorthorn bull Lls ; empty cows L 3 6s. Wethers in wool 13s 4d ; hoggets in wool 9s 4d ; shorn hoggets 6s 7d ; fat ewes, 6s lOd to 7s ; ewes and lambs 9s 6d to 10s.
