Objectionable Religious Publications.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Nov. 27. A letter was read from Bishop Grimes, calling attention to the fact that the par tients of the Christchurch Hospital were compelled to attend religious services to which they had conscientious objections, and that objectionable religions publications were thrust into their hands. Mr Gray said if he were again elected to the Board he would move in the direction of the discontinuance of these services so as to obviate the recurrence of any friction. The Board's reply to Bishop Grimes' letter was to the effect that the Board sanctioned simple religions services, and did not see in what way it could be considered objectionable ; that the Board was not aware that members of the Salvation Army were in the habit of distributing any publications to those not desiring such, and that every endeavour would be made to see that no patients were annoyed by visitors or by service.
