The Patterson Divorce Sensation.

(Per s.s. Tekapo at the Blnff.) Sydney, Novr. 12. Much interest has been taken in the divorce case Mary Stewart Patterson y. Bush Hugh Patterson, one of the leading dentists in Sydney, -which ended so sensationally, as reported* by cable on Saturday. In her evidence the petitioner stated that her husband earned £3000 a year. She was married to him in 1691, being at that time instructor in cookery iv the Technical College, where she earned £400 a year. They lived happily for nine months, and then she found respondent sitting in his business office with an arm round the waist of his lady secretary, while her band was on his shoulder. * She did not say any* thing about this, because she was newly married, and did not wish to cause trouble. Shortly afterwards her baby was born, and she found that the lady secretary had charge of the house, and used to drink. Afterwards, at Woolricb, her husband was very intimate with the servants, with whom he used to joke and lark. In 1891, as the result of an operation, she had to go to England, and on her return, as her husband did not meet her, she went to his bouse and waited for him till 12 o'clock. When she ran to greet him, he asked why she had waited up for him. 'There was a housekeeper in the house at the time, and though she suggested that there was no need for such a person now, her husband refused to dismiss her, and sat by the housekeeper's bed when she was ill. After that she left the place. The petitioner also complained of cruelty. — Post.
