HIDEOUS DETAILS OF THE ERZEROUM OUTRAGE.
GREAT MASSACRE OF ARMENIANS (Per Press Association). Constantinople. Nov. 15. The United States squadron will cooperate with British fleet in Turkish waters. Serious rioting has taken place at Sivas and great bloodshed has resulted. The foreign residents are protected. The Patriarch admits that the Armenians have committed proyoking massacres, and the Sultan is alarmed at the increasing sedition of the Ulemas, Pashas, and Army. November 17. Sixteen hundred Armenians were massacred at Swas and Kharput. The American mission houses were burnt, but ths missionaries escaped. Eighty thousand of the Eedifs, or Second Landwebr, have been summoned to assist in suppressing the revolt. London, Nov. 16. The Times publishes a report of three columns of the recent outrages at Erzeronm, in which hideous details and systematic massacre by soldiery are given, and the correspondent alleges that he counted 320 who died on the spot.
