(Per Press Association). Napier, Nov. 14. A requisition was presented to Mr F. Trask this afternoon, asking him to con sent to nomination for bis sixth term of office as Mayor. Mr Trask consented to be nominated. At the Supreme Court, William George Morgan, late postmaster at Inangahuo Junction, an a charge of stealing a registered letter posted by Bryan, was found not guilty. On a second charge of stealing letters posted by Bradley and others the jury retired at three o'clock and at a quarter to ten were locked up for the night. Dtjnedin, November If. A man named Bennett was fined 40s to-day for giving whiskey to a person against whom there is a prohibition order. A prohibition was then granted against Bennett mmßelf. . Dean Fitchett, who has been in illhealth for some time has been granted nine months' leave of absence, and leaves for England about the middle of next month. Auckland, Nov. 12. The National Bank despatched yesterday to London bullion to the value of £5000. Mr Speakman Baker, a new arrival at Onehunga from Martinborough (Wellington), bad his premises burglariously entered and £9 16s stolen. Judge Yon Stunner is standing for the Parnell mayoralty. The inspector under the Shop Hoars Act, Mr Ferguson, has communicated with the Mayor with a view to a confer* ference being called of the local bodies to fix the holiday under the Act and terminate the present " go as-you please" arrangement.
