Fatal Accident near Rangitikei River.
M MB — ■»— • A—————— RECOVERY OF BREDIN'S BODY. (Per Press Association.)! Marton, Nov. 13. It appears that the scene of the accident is what is known as opposite tbe Mawbae Flat, and the slip was two or three chains long and about a chain wide, the hill having a steep face and the soil is very light, sandy loam. Tbe accident occurred at about one o'clock on Tuesday, and tbe first intimation tht settlers bad was through Mr Calvert galloping up tbe road from his farm adjoining Mr Bredin's, and there be met Mr John Hammond with a request for assistance. This was speedily forthcoming, Mr Hammond and several men crossing the river for that purpose. They, with other willing volunteers, worked up till ten o'clock. This Day. Tbe body of Robt. Bredin was recovered to-day ten feet back from the water's edge and four feet below the surface of the slip. The body was under a large tree, a portion of which was removed to enable tbe men to get it.
