Apits Notes.
(from our own coeeespondent.) An entertainment was given by the Apiti Bijou Amateur Christy Minstrel Troupe in Guy's Hall last Friday evening. The hall was crowded, and standing room could hardly be gained. The programme was a lengthy one, and was well received, notably the items by C. Goldring and Messrs Phillip Bros. Most of the singers were suffering from severe colds, which marred what would have been a great success. Mr J. Turner deserves credit for bringing the troupe to such efficiency, and the Apiti Lodge will be greatly benefited by the efforts of the minstrels, the entertainment being given in aid of their funds. A dance followed the entertainment, and was well attended. Mr E. Correen, as musician, and Mr J. Turner, M.C, successfully discharged their duties. The following programme was gone through: — Overture by the orchestra ; opening chorus, " Gipsy Chorns " (from • Bohemian Girl ') ; songs. • Walking the Floor with Baby ' and • The Dude,' by C. Messrs Miller, Curreen, and Eggitt were musii cal conductors, Mr J. Turner stage man- , ager, Mr E. Le Prou secretary, and Mr H. Houten treasurer. At the meeting of the Apiti Sports Committee, held in Guy's Hall last Saturday, it was reported that subscriptions . amounting to about £30 had been promised, and it was resolved to call for tenders for the privileges — gates, re- ■ freshment booth, and right of games i and horse paddock ; tenders to close on t Friday, 6th December.
