London Wool Sales.
(Per Press Association.) Sydney, Nov. 11. Up to date the quantity of wool sold in the local market exceeds ninety-six per cent of the amount offered, as compared with seventy-eight per cent last year. Sydney, This Day. This week the wool sales opened with active competition, especially on the part of American buyers.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received account sales by the 'Frisco mail showing that lid per lb (equal to 9£d per here) has been secured for a number of clips on this coast, of well grown, greasy fleece wool, thus confirming previous London cable reports of a substantial rise in this class of wool. A private letter received by the last English mail states that the Bradford wool market has never been so busy for tbe last twenty years as it is now and that there is a reaction in favor of British goods of all classes, especially in alpaca textures. The Manchester manufacturers advise that owing to the very serious advance in cotton (from 2Jd to 4§d per lb) all old quototions are withdrawn. While offering no opinion as io the future of cotton the Manchester house are certain that they will not again see tbe low prices at which it was sold from November to March last.
