A special meeting of the General Committee of the above was held on Saturday, Mr L. Wallis (President) in tbe chair. A letter was received from Mr G. Wheeler pointing out the absolute necessity which existed for enlargement of Showground before next Bhow. He suggested that a committee be appointed to see what could be done in the way of acquiring more gronnd. — Tbe President, Messrs J. M. Johnston and L. Abraham were appointed.— Mr Abrahan stated that two sections next the showground could be purchased for £75 each. A letter was also received from Mr G. Wheeler, asking that some prizes won by him and Messrs Buchanan and Levett be re-arranged. The cattle were entered in their separate names but as the Show was over they had been balloted for in accordance with arrangements, and the cattle entered in his name had fallen to the others and vice vena. — Re-arranged as desired. i Messrs J. B.Foster-Pratteand C. Haw* kins forwarded protests against Messrs S. W. Luxford's and Slack's entries for the Ayrshire classes on the ground that they were not entered in the New Zealand Herd Book.— Considerable discussion- took place, special reference being ; made to tbe ambiguous wording of the rule. — Mr.Luxford said his entries were made m good faith, and he bad obtained j a legal opinion to the effect that his cattle i were eligible. — Eventually, on the motion of Mr Buchanan, seconded by Mr Bowland, it was decided that owing to Mr Pratt's protest against entries of Ayrshire cattle, those entered by Mr Luxford and Mr Slack in section 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, should be ineligible for competition : and all entry fees in these sections be returned, owing to misapprehension in reading regulations. — Carried. A protest was received from Mr W. G. Pearce against the result of the milkcooler competition on the ground that the judpe was the inventor of tbe firstprize machine. — A letter was read from Mr Spencer denying that he had any in terest in the cooler referred to. — It was decided that Mr Pearce's letter be received. Accounts to the amount of L 693 10s 6d were passed for payment. — Standard.
