The Dean Case.

TRIAL OF THE CONSPIRATORS. (Per Press Association). Sydney, October 30. The trial of Crick, Meagher, Dean, Green and Mrs Reynolds, for conspiracy began to-day, and the whole day was occupied in the statement of the Crown in proving the Police Court evidence and the speeches in Parliament by Crick. The counsel for the defence strongly condemned Government for allowing Sir Julian Salomons to leave the colony, as he was a material witness and declared in having offered Dean money to get away he was as much a conspirator as the accused. This Day. The Crown Prosecutor said he would be able to prove Mr Meagher was fully aware of Dean's guilt in a very early stage of the case, and he purposely failed to question Smith the chemist ; also, that Mr Crick knew all about the proceedings, and was consulted and gave advice in the matter.
