An amalgamation scheme has been agreed upon between WaitekauriNo. 5 and 6 and the Globe (a total of 103 acres) with a view to flotation in the London market with a capital of i-80,000. An enthusiastic meeting in connection with the cultivation of sugar beet was held at Hamilton to-day. Messrs Lewenberg, Douglas and Graham were present. 147 acres were guaranteed by those present, and a committee was appointed to canvass the district for signatures for the necessury guarantee, 2500 acres. A decision has been given by Justice Connolly in favour of the Loan and Mercantile Company for a large and valuable block, the Maungatutahi, 5491 acres. The lands registrar had refused to register the transfer to the company owing to alleged legal restrictions. Christchurch, October 30. C. A. Denby, for 47 years a resident of Canterbury and for a number of years in the employ of the Provincial |Government and subsequently the Railway Department, died yesterday.
