The Banking Amalgamation.
We have it from a reliable source that the agreement for the purchase of the business of the Colonial Bank by the Bank of New Zealand has been arranged, and that according to the Banking Act of the present session it will be presented to Parliament in the course of to-day's proceedings. The protracted and difficult negotiations are an emphatic answer to the statement made while the Bank Bill was going through that the agreement between the Banks was cut and dried. — N.Z. Times.
