(Per Press Association). Wellington, October 15. The document submitted by Mr Jellicoe in support of the application on behalf of Chemis, which was refused, include a long affidavit by MrsCnerais, reiterating many of the allegations which were brought forward in the charge of perjury against the police. She always luys stress on the fact that if the trial had occurred two months later both she and Chemia could have given evidence, and that they and their children were the only ones that could state where he was on the night of j the murder. It ia also urged once more that other peopic were on terms of the greatest enmity with Hawkins, and two iof them have since left the colony. One I of them is particularly suggested as the possible criminal. There was nn attempt of some sort at the trial, but it was not persevered with, and little attention was paid to it. It is understood another Bill will be introduced nest session to give Chemis a new tria?.
