London Wool Markets.
The N.Z.L. and M. Co. have received the following London market cable, dated 14th October : —Wool — The sales closed firmly this day. Since close of last sales superior greasy Merino, and medium inferior washed and scoured Merino are Id to l^d per lb higher. Superior washed and scoured Merino, fine washed and fine scoured, medium greasy cross-bred are l£d to 2d higher. Medium and inferior , greasy Merino and fine greasy cross-bred 1 are Id per lb higher. Superior greasy Merino lambs and greasy cross-bred lambs are Id per lb higher. Medium washed and scoured cross-breds are lid per lb higher. Coarse greasy washed and scoured cross-bred are l.Yd to 2d per lb higheri" The total quantity 6old during the past sales is 215,000 bale?, of which 89,000 bales have been taken for the Con tinent and 5000 bales for America. It is estimated that Ii,OQO bales have been held over for future disposal. Under date London, 12th October, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, cable as follows to their Wellington agents, Messrs Levin and Co. : — " The wool sales closed firm, lately reported rates being fully maiDtiined, with the exception of those for inferior and faulty wools which have scarcely kept up to the level advertised in our last message. (Per Press Association.) Masteeton, October 15. Farmers in this district are in high glee at the substantial rise in the price of wool. Several buyers are offering 7d and 8d a lb for tho wool, but most people preter to take the risk themselves. Thsy say if it pays big firms to buy at Bd, it will pay them to take the risk and hold on to the wool.
