Feilding School Committee.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held last evening. Present — Messrs H. Worsfold (chairman), A. W. Parker (secretary), R. J. Thompson, W. G. Haybittle, J. Taylor, and J. Gould. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs Carthew and Shearer. The head teacher's report was read to the following effect : —The average attendance for the last month was 2774. The new room was finished and ready for occupation as soon as the desks arrive. Now that the additions are finished it will be expedient to appoint a Truant Inspector. He recommended the re-ap-pointment of Mr Flavall, and that he should receive she fines in payment. The committee would still benefit by the increased capitation. There are several broken panes in the lobbies. These have caused draughts during the very windy weather, which are especially injurious at the present time, when many children have colds. In most instances these windows have not been broken by children attending the school. Accounts amounting to L4 13s 9d were passed for payment, Proposed by Mr Haybittle seconded Mr Taylor, That Mr F, Flavall be asked to accept the position of Truant Inspector, his remuneration to be the fines.—Carried. Resolved, That the next two meetings be held on the second Monday in each month. Resolved, That Messrs Gould and Bray be the visiting committee for the ensuing month. The committee then adjourned.
