.» . (Per Press Association.) Auckland, October 8. The leading dairy farmers are sending strong representations to Wellington regarding the new tariff on the dairying machinery. Two men named Allen and Coffin, were killed and another injured through the falling off a tree in the bush in Ahura valley. The Auckland Free Stock and Mining Exchange has been opened. Considerable curiosity was evinced in its movements. Great crowds of spectators assembled at the opening. Sellers as a rule asked a fair percentage above the selling values of shares. Chr istchurch, October 8. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, Leonard Harper's case was remanded till Friday, the existing bail being renewed. Invercakgill, Oct. 8. William Hopc?oft, aged 40, committed suicide by hanging at South Riverton to-day. Hokitika, Oct. 8. The Harbor Board has decided to throw out a wing-dam to direct the current of the river on the bar, which lately has been in bad condition.
