1.0. G.T. Concert at Apiti.
(Communicated.) The new Temperance Hall was opened with a tea and concert on October 2nd which proved a great success, visitors coming from Birmingham and Feilding. The eatables were provided by the friends and the tables were presided over by Mesdames Buckman, Prince, McKenzie, and Osborne, and Misses Watson (2), Carter (2), and McMillan. After all had partaken of a good tea, the Hall was cleared for the concert. Mr T. Watson (of Feilding) ably presided in the chair, while the following programme was gone through :— Chorus, by the Apiti Water Drinkers, " March on Steady " ; recitation, Master Stanley Shearer, " Where is he now " ; address, Mr H. Tolly, junr. ; song, "Sailing," Mr B. Miller ; flute solo, Mr F. Barlow ; address, Mr G. Shearer (of Feilding) ; song, 11 The Diver, 1 ' Mr L. Carter ; song, 11 Wedding Morn," Mr W. Griffin ; song, "The Cows are in the Clover," and " Good Night" Miss R. Buckman ; song, " The Silver Rhine " Miss Carter ; trio, " Three Gipsy Maids," Misses O. and E. Buckman and L. Prince ; address, Mr F. S. Guy ; song, Mrs Prince ; comic reading, Mr T. Watson ; song, " Nil Desperandum, Mr Shearer; song, "Teetotal Car," Mr C. Golding " chorus, " Never Mind " Apiti Water Drinkers. The various accompaniments were played by Mrs Buckman, Misses Carter (2), and Mr H. Miller. Coffee and refreshments were provided in tbe anteroom, after the concert was over, for the visitors. The proceeds of the evening which amounted to a little over £1 will go towards the the new Hall fund.
