The fancy dress masquerade carnival at the Excelsior Skating Rink last evening was. very largely attended. The hall was prettily decorated with nikan palms and other evergreens, and flags of all colors and designs, presenting a very gay appearance. The fancy costumes looked well, some of them ' being very good indeed. The judges, Mr F. De Lisle and. W. There were several other ladies and gentlemen in fancy dress, but as they did not leave their names with the characters represented with the doorkeeper we have been unable tp include them in the list, The carnival passed oft very successfully, and the management have every reason to be satisfied with their efforts to provide a pleasant evening's amusement. The Feilding Brass Band played a number of selections during the evening. For the future the Rink will be open on Saturday evenings only.
