The Waihora in a Gale.

During the heavy gale encountered by the Waihora on the passage from Hobart to the Bluff, which it will be remembered necessitated the vessel being hove to for 44 hours -enormous beam and head seas struck her in the height of the storm and swept tho deck repeatedly. One tremendous inrush of water completely wrecked a boat and played havoc with everything movable. On Saturday only 16 miles was steamed, and on Sunday 30 miles. On Sunday night at 11 o'clock the gale appeared to reach its height, and it was thought advisable to send word round for everyone to have a Ufebelt ready to use. It was a most anxious night. By Monday afternoon the storm had moderated. Some of the davits were bent by the heavy force of the heavy seas, panes of glass in the saloon skylight were broken, and cases of fruit washed overboard.
