Primitive Methodist Church.
The additions to the Primitive Methodist Church in Feilding have now been completed, and add vastly to the apappearance of the Church. The new piece has been erected in the form of a " T " at the back of the old building, the dimensions being 35ft by 18ft, and increases the seating accommodation by another 100, or sufficient in all for 300 people. The pulpit has been removed to the back of the new space, and has in front of it a raised platform for a choir of about twenty singers. The total cost of the work will be a little over £180, which includes an expenditure of about £40 in roofing the old Church with iron, painting inside and out, new architraves for the windows, and other improve* ments. The vestry was pulled down and re-erected at the back of the new structure with free labor, as also was the re-roofing of the old building, gether work to the value of about £25 or £30 was done by members of the congregation free of charge. The building is well supplied with ventilators in the ceiling. The inside has been painted in pale tints, which give it a very cheerful appearance. The cogt of the work, altogether is partly covered by voluntary subscriptions, about £90 being raised in that way, and partly by a loan of £50 free of interest from the Loan Fund of the Connexion. The opening tea and services on Wednesday next are expected to give a substantial return. Besides this a sale of work will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 9th, and a concert will take place on the same evening, so that, it will be seen, the indebtedness of the Church will be reduced to a minimum. It is worthy of note that these alterations are mainly due to the energy of the Bey. J. Cocker, ' who has only been in charge of the circuit for about six months. His con* gregation took up the suggested improvements enthusiastically and they must feel gratified at the result. The contract for the carpenters' work was let to Messrs Wilkinson and Tarrant, and the painting and decorating entrusted to Messrs Watson Bros., each of whom carried out their work faithfully and well.
