Following are the latest quotations on New Zealand Cup : — 100 to 12 against Skirmisher, 100 to 10 Marino, 100 to 8 Mahaki, Waiuku, Royal Rose, 100 to 7 Gipsy Gaand, Outpost, 100 to 6 Prime Warden, Lady Zetland, Saracen, 100 to 5 to 1 others. The horses well backed for the Caulfield Cup are Newman, Hova, Alpine, Ayrshire, The Possible. Eiridsford is favorite at 100 to 8, The Admiral 100 to 6, Atlas 100 to 5, others 100 to 4 to 100 to 1. The Randwick correspondent of the Melbourne Sportsman is evidently very much in love with St. Hippo. 'Writing recently 'of the training work done at Randwick, this correspondent said : " St. Hippo galloped the wind out of Doris for the first lap of a mile, and then picked up a horse like Royal Rose, for a brush home — Royal Rose beat him, but I do not think there" was much in it — I opine St. Hippo is the best horse I have ever seen, Abercorn and Carbine notwithstanding. I know it is a big word to say, but I will stick to it. St. Hippo is still as fat as a bull, but that don't stop him from galloping faster than good horses in a much more forward state. His knee and hock seems to be getting sounder as he works on. I will ask for nothing better than this beautiful Maori, if well, on Melbourne Cup day."
