Waituna West Notes.
♦ I From Our Own Correspondent] The lovely weather we have had for the last two weeks has completely altered tbe appearance of the pasture on most of the farms in tbis district, and consequently the stock are Bhowing, a decided improvement on their winter form, which, in some instances, was sadly pinched. Lambing bas proved unusually good, so far, this season. Mr Northcott leads with 138, Mr Wallis 132, and Mr Bracelin with 120 per cent. There are, doubtless, others as good, but they have not come under my notice. The contractors for Mr Lister's stumping are using dynamite rather freely, and the explosions are heard for a long distance. No damage of any consequence has resulted, though I heard of a house being somewhat shaken. A good bit of cropping is being dope, most of the farmers putting in one thing ! or another, according to their individual wants or fancies. The fruit trees are showing very well for blossom, and many of the orchards are already very beautiful. The railway metals which are to be erected as posts for the telephone wires have been laid all the way to the Waituna. Tbey will be comical looking affairs when they are put in position, but for all that we shall be very glad when communication with Feilding iB an established fact.
