Boot Trade Conference.

(Per Press Association). Christchurch, Sept. 24. The boot trade conference opened today, Mr Henry Thomson presiding. The delegates present were : — Manufacturers' Association — R. Hannah and Staples (Wellington) ; H. Toomer, J. A. Frostick O'Brien and J. Delacour (Christchurch) ; A. Bridge and R. McKinley (Dunedin) ; Bootmakers' Federated Union— Dean, Miles and Binnie (Wellington), Milligan, Osborne and Barlow (Christchurch) ; Arnold, Fergusson and Urgle (Dunedin) ; McNalty (Invercargill). Mr Frostick on behalf of the manufacturers, presented a new statement of wages and conditions and the labour employees could not accept the proposals, and the conference adjourned till 10 o'clock to-morrow when they will state the clauses which they will not accept.
