Sir Hercules Robinson gave a ball at Government House in honour of Lord and Lady Brassey, who are on their way to "Victoria in their yacht, the Sunbeam. Addresses have been presented by the municipalities and by the ex-Victorians resident in this colony. Lord and Lady Brassey and party sailed yesterday for Melbourne. The Lorenzo Marquez mutineers at the Maritz fortress appealed to the Portuguese outhorities for pardon on condition of their returning their arms, but the request was declined. London, Sept. 22. The young Duke of Marl borough, who succeeded to the title in 1892. is engaged to Miss Consnela Vanderbilt, daughter of Mr William Vanderbilt, the American millionaire. Paris, Sept. 21. The Adelaide wine depot at the Bordeaux Exhibition has been awarded a medal.
