Live Cattle Trade.
(Per Press Association.) London, Sept. 20. Sir Wostby Percival is pressing the Board of Agriculture to permit tbe Buteshire's sheep to be landed without restriction. Melbourne, Sept. 20 The Age, commenting on the results of the Southern Cross' shipment of stock, says it proves the present modes both of shipping animals and supplying j fodder are defective, and unless efforts | are made to remedy the defects the trade cannot be continued. The ship. ! ment has proved a cteci<fed 2oss to the consignors. Later. Mr Bergyl has cabled to the agents in the colony to ship no more cattle. He estimates that the recent shipment by the Southern Cross selling at an average of Ll2 per head will result in a loss of over L4OOO. The salesmen consider this estimate exaggerated, and believe that the bullocks will average from Ll4 to Lls. _^_______^
