The Premier stated that at Mr Eddy's repeated request the question of increasing his salary will not be submitted to Parliament. This Day. The Loan Bill, based on the Public Works Estimates, was passed through Com mittee, and should no deadlock occur with the Council it is anticipated the session will close at the latter part of November. Albany, September 19. Arriyed — Arcadia. Passengers for New Zealand — Messrs Chapman, Whitson (2), Mrs Whitson, Miss Buckland. Melbourne, Sept 19. The Railway Board's report shows the total net loss annually upon non-paying lines is a quarter of a million, of which suburban lines are responsible for JE25,---000, and suggests a further possible saving of £365,000 a year.
