ARRIVAL OF^MARK TWAIN. (Per Press Association.) Adelaide, Sept. 15. The South Australian Register, commenting ou the reduction of the Governor's salary, says it is doubtful whether the proposal may not contravene the rule of fair play, and constitute a breach of an honorable obligation. Sydney, Sept. 16. The Cattertlmn enquiry has been adjourned pending the search for the rock not marked on the chart, as reported by fishermen. \ steamer is leavlug for the purpose to-morrow. Mark Twain was a passenger by the Warrimoo, which has arrived from America. The inhabitants of Greta have been ■waterless. A train conveyed water thither, and the fluid is selling at Is per 100 gallons. A large and influential deputation of business men waited on Mr Eddy, and asked him in the iuterests of commerce and the public generally to accept reengagement. Mr Eddy replied that he had had several interviews with the Premier, and everything had been practically arranged, and it had almost been agreed upon that he would accept reappointment. Melbourne, Sept. 16. A train ran over a bullock on the Hoptoun line, and a carriage containing 16 passengers was telescoped. Three persons were injured, but not seriously. Three constables have been found guilty of misconduct in connection with evidence in the Synnott divorce case, and fined .£lO each, with the option of two months' imprisonment. The Board of Health recommends i that the slaughtering operations in connection with the frozen meat trade should be concentrated aud supervised, otherwise there is no chance of keeping ; the local supplies pure. !
