Pohangina Notes.
Following the self-denial banquet in Ashurst on Wednesday last, the Salvation Army held a tea meeting hero on Thursday. Provisions were kindly given by the residents and a large number were present to do justice to the good things provided The banquet in Ashurst realised £9, so that with Pohangina's L 4 they have a good half of the amount at which they are aiming. A sale of work made by Ashurst soldiers realised a good amount. I hear that Mr Durling was seriously injured by a bull on Thursday last. Rev. Mr Devenish will conduct the service in Palmer's old store on Sunday, 29th September, at 2 p.m. sharp. A concert and dauce will be held in I the Hall on 4th October. Proceeds in aid of the building fund. Local and other talent. — Standard.
