Railway Freights on Timber.
Wellington, Sept. 4. A deputation of Hawke's Bay sawmillers waited on the Minister of Railways to-night to ask that the rates on the Taranaki Napier section be reduced to the rates charged on other sections in the coloDy. Messrs Pirani, E. M. Smith, Stevens, McGuire, and G. Hutchison, M.H.R.'s, accompanied the deputation. The Minister promised to consider the matter in framing the tariff. — Standard.
