Mr McEwan at Campbelltown.
Mr McEwan, Chief Government Dairy Expert, addressed a meeting at the Tern perance Hull, Catnpbelltcwn, yesterday afternoon. His remarks were similar to those already published in our columns. He referred to the advantages of co operative dairying as against proprietory concerns, but said it was imperative for all interested to work together, throwing aside all prejudices. The feeding of animals was very important, and it was necessary to get the best breed of cowa. As to fodder, Indian corn was proved to produce the best quality of ensilage, and that hay or straw did not show satis factory results. He also touched on the importance of stabling cows in winter, dairying all the year round, aeration of milk, paying for milk by the test, the preparation of silos, which should be airtight. In reply to a question he said that a fodder composed of Indian corn, sunflower heads and English horse beans was being tested in Canada, and so far had given good results. The feeding value of green oats was as gocd as en silage, but the latter made from corn produced a greater yield per acre than the former. At the conclusion of his address a vote of thanks-was accorded to Mr McEwan.
