#_ (Per Press Association.) Mastehton, September 2. The business premises of Messrs B. T Holmei and J. Carpenter were entered during Sunday by thieves, but very little wa9 taken. It ia supposed that the burglars are boys. Napieu, September 2. A series of robberies have been committed at Frasertov/n, Wairoa. A special constable ran the culprits to earth with the aid of an empty revolver. One prisoner subsequently escaped into the bush. The body of the fisherman John Thomas, who has been missing since the 19tn August, rose to the surface of the inner harbour yesterday. Wanganui, Snpt. 2. Edward Williams was sentenced to five year's imprisonment to day by Judge Kettle for bigamy. Chkistchurch, September 2. A sailor on the Gothic, John McNamara ' died of heart disease on the voyage from Wellington. 1 A grass fire at Cheviot swept away about 1000 acres before it was checked. 1 About 100 sheep were destroyed.
