A match was played at Palmerston on Saturday between the Manawatn and Wanganui reps., resulting in a win for the former by 16 points to 8. In the first spell Wanganui played with the wind in their favor, and G. Marshall, from a free kick, placed a goal, and G. Johnston secured a try which Marshall converted. On changing sides Manawatu made things lively for the visitors, and before time was called had scored four tries — Richards two, W. Shannon and Pyke one' each. Le Cren converted one try, and Clarkson another. Shan* non played a good game at half-back for the winners, while for the visitors W. McLean played a smart game at centre three-quarter. A match between Wellington and Auck* land was played before some 3000 epecta* tors, and resulted after a rattling game in a win for tbe local team by nine points to five. Auckland, August 31 The Association tournament was con* eluded in Potter's paddock, Auckland defeated Buahine (Napier) by three goals to nil thus winning the Brown trophy.
