A match was played at Palmerston on Saturday between the Manawatn and Wanganui reps., resulting in a win for the former by 16 points to 8. In the first spell Wanganui played with the wind in their favor, and G. Marshall, from a free kick, placed a goal, and G. Johnston secured a try which Marshall converted. On changing sides Manawatu made things lively for the visitors, and before time was called had scored four tries — Richards two, W. Shannon and Pyke one' each.
