AUSTRALIAN CABLES.
(Per Press Association.) Sydnky, August 30. The Attorney General announced that if further prosecutions ngainst tote shops become necessary the offenders would be charged under a section of the law necessitating committal for trial. A contract has been let locally for the erection of the Australian Smelling Corn pane's Works at Illawtirra, including railway and harbour works. The total cost is £200,000, and they are to be completed by December i 897 solicitor, charged with complicity in the Bailer conspiracy case, has been committed for trial. Chief Justice Way, of Australia, presided at a large and enthusiastic meeting in the interests of the Methodists' Union. Speeches were made strongly advocating the Union. •
