Extensive Robberies in Melbourne.
A BURGLAR SHOT BY THE POLICE. (Per Press Association.) Melhourxk, August 27. Numerous extensive robberies have occurred in the suburbs lately. A large consignment of goods taken from a store at Richmond was found iv an empty house at Collingwood. The police were watching at night, when three men arrived and commenced to remove the goods. The police pounced or. tbem. One named Geoffrey in an attempt to escape was shot by the police in the shoulder, aud lies in a critical condition. The other two, well-known criminals, were captured.
