Golvton School Commitee.
A meeting of the above was held on Friday last. Present — Messrs Owen Pleasants (chairman), T. Shortall, E. Smith, P. Lynch, and G. Ashworth. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mrs Yonng's account for cleaning school for July was read and, on a proposition by Mr "Lynch seconded by Mr Smith, was passed for payment. The Head Master read his monthly report, and also a report on the concert and dance, and it was proposed by Mr Shortall, seconded by Mr Lynch, That both reports be received. — Carried. The Head Master in his report asked that £3 should be voted from the Concert Fund to the School Library Fuud for the purchase of books for the children, and it was proposed by Mr Ashworth, seconded by Mr Shortall, That the Head Master's request be acceded to, the money to be taken from the refund of expenses between now and the end of the year. — Carried. The Head Master proposed to give a magic lantern entertainment in aid of the Committee funds, and asked the Committee to fix the date. After some discussion it was proposed by Mr Lynch, seconded by Mr Shortall, That this matter be held over till next meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Ashworth, seconded by Mr Shortall, That the Head Master's report re the concert and dance is very satisfactorj' — Carried. The report of the Visiting Committee was read and received. The report mentioned that the swings needed attention, and a style is necessary leading to the football ground. — Proposed by Mr Smith, seconded by Mr Shortall, That these matters be dealt with by the Chairman. — Carried. The Visiting Committee reported that the approaches to both boys' and girls' conveniences were in a very bad state, and it was impossible for the children to get to either without wading through mud and water ankle deep Proposed by Mr Shortall, seconded by Mr Ash* worth, That the Chairman point this out to the Board and ask for assistance to remedy this state of affairs. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Shortall, seconded by Lynch, That Messrs Smith and Bray be the visiting committee for ensuing month. — Carried.
