The Stock Market.

I Abraham & Williams report— Business j during the week has had a brighter tone. Store wethers, fat sheep and sound hoggets advanced in price. Bullocks and steers commanded better attention and sold freely. At Awahuri on Tuesday a moderate number of cattle came forward, but a small one of sheep. All lots were cleared. At Palmerstou yesterday there was a good entry most of the stock was of a useful character. The bulk of the cattle were steers and bullocks 3 and o year old. Fat cows sold freely, other sorts were disposed of more readily than of late. Awahuri — Fat cows, L4 to L4 11s; forward do, L;s 8s ; store cows, L'2 18s ; springing heifurs, £3 12s : empty heifers, LB ; fat ewe wothers, 9s lOd ; forward wether.-*, Os ; wether hoggets, 7s 5d ; woolly, do. 7s 4iL Palmerstou — Store wethers, 6d ; others, 7s 6d ; iat wethers, Is 7d ; superior woolly hoggets 8s 9d ; others 7s to 7s yd ; culls, 5s 4d ; breeding ewes, 9s Id ". 4-yr store bullocks, L4 3s 6d to Lo 5s 6d ; others, L4 12s 6d ; 3-yr do. L4 18s ; 2-yr steers, L8 7s ; fat cows, L4 5s to L5 4s 6d : fresh conditioned cows, L8 12s Gd ; empty cows, L2 10s to L3 Is j mixed yearlings. 80s. There was a large attendance at Messrs Abraham and "Williams stock sale yesterday, and judging by the way favorite lines went off, prospects look much brighter for farmers. The buyers [ appeared to appreciate good stock when brought forward, and this was especially noticeable in a grand line of hoggets, which fetched 8s 9d per head, the 1 top price of the season. On enquiry we 1 ascertained that the sheep, which pos- \ sossed plenty of quality, were bred by Mr Donald Grant, of Kairanga. — Standand.
