If tho figures bo as stated, soys iho bydney Herald, shippers from Australia will bo inclined to look into the matter as one affecting their interests, to ascertain whether they cannot ship at icasta portion of their produce to that centre. Taking a few of the articles we export to England, what they say is the present cost of transit from the ex- ship of London, including London landing charges, delivery to railway wagaon, railway carriage and deliverj at destination within the ordinary cirtage limits, as compared with the cost of importing the same articles via Manchester, including Mans chester Ship Cana! tolls and wharfage, delivery to railway carriage, and delivery at destination wiihin tho ordinary cartage limits, {-'yes delivery of butter at Birmingham from Manchester at 25s per ton, and from London at 29s 6d ; at Bolton at 12s as compared wiili3is3d, nt Bradford afc 10s as compared wiih 43s lOd, at Sheffield at 20s a.s compared with 29s Gd. Frozen meat, it is said, is delivered at a saving from Manchester, at Binning* ham at 20s per ton, at Bolston at 56s Gu. at Shcffijld of 49s 2d.
