Apiti Athletic Sports.

A meeting of the principal settlers of Apiti was held on Saturday, lTih August, at 8 p.m., in Eagar's Apiti Hotel, for the purpose of appointing a committee to carry out the nest, Athletic Sports Meeting. Mr 11. Snow presided. Thero was a very large attendance. It was decided that the next Sports Meeting be held on Wednesday, Ist January, 189G, Now Year's Day. Mr E. F Eagar was elected presiden, and Messrs Ooborno, Stewart, and Cumuiorfield, vice-presidents. Mr EL Munro, handicapper, Mr T. Thompson, starter, B. Le Prou, judge, Mr W. Knyvett, referee, Mr Burrows, timekeeper, Mr K. Stewart, master of the track, Mr Eagar, treasurer, Mr A. Gartwright, secretary. The following committeemen wore appointed—Messrs F. Allen, E. Byrne, F. Garrick, C. T. Dally, McConnoll, A. Logan, TV. Wilson, Duncan, P. Clifford. Messrs Wilson, Osborne, and Stewart, were elected a ground committee to interview Mr D. McKenzie aueut the sports ground. Resolved, That all advertising be done in the Feilding Stah. Resolved, That members of the committee be not barred from any of the events on the programme, with the exception of the handicapper. Tho next meeting of the committee will bo held on Saturday, the 31st inst. Seven members to form a quorum. Au unanimous vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
