Tho anaucai general meeting of the I above Club was held cm Saturday eveniui£. at Mrs Hastie's hotel. Present — Messrs H. L. Sherwill (in the chair), Dr Soiley, Garlick, Hicks, Lethbridge, Eoe, DicliHon, Carty, Treseder, Scam/rett, Grant, Bartholomew, Benson, Levett. Reade, Hill. The annual report and balance-sheet winch was adopted as read, is as follows : — ANNUAL REPORT, SKASON 1894-95. Gk.vtle.men, — In handing you report for above season, the thanks of the Club are due to Mrs Lethbridge, MrsDr Sorley, and other ladies, who so continually and kindly provided refreshments to players and visitors. Here I may be permitted a few remarks on the past season. Feilding possesses in no ordinary degree cricketers practical and experienced, and also has advantages particularly in point of ground (for which we are indebted to the continued generosity of F. Y. Lethbridge, Esq.,) that no other Club in our Association can claim. Last season the officers worked hard in the intorosta of the Club, and day after day in the early morning and evening they worked assiduously to prepare and keep the ground in good order. This and the many other practical evidences of their desire to make the game prosper were, I re^iefc to say, unavailecl of even by the players themselves taking sufficient interest to use the ground if only for practice. I trust this year the supporters of cricket will endeavor to eradiicate the half-hearted and almost indifferent regard that seemed to permeate them during last season, see the opportunities offered fully taken advantage of, and the efforts of the incoming officers (and such supporters asF. Y. Lethbridge, Esq.,) fully appreciated and encouraged. The Club played five matches for the Raui'ifcikei - Mauawatu Cup, winning those against Marton and Carnarvon, and losing against Birmingham, Colyton and Palmerston. Other matches were played against Wanganui, "Wanganui Collie, Kiwi tea, Pohangina and Lloyd's team, the latter being won, losing those against Wanganui College, Kiwitea, aud Pohangiua, and drawing with Wanganui. In conclusion I beg to draw your attention to the loss the Club has suffered through the departure of Mr J. C. Halcombe, our late Secretary, Mr J. W. F. I [alcombe, member of last year's committee, and Mr A. L. Parr, one of our best and most consistent players. Subjoined are the batting averages. Batting averages — L. E. Keade 25, highest score S7, not out ; A. Hunter, 14 ; J. Bartholomew, Vi, highest score 29, not out ; J. C. Hill, 11; Grant, 10; A. C. Levett, 7; G. Bartholomew, 6. Gentlemen, — In presenting my repoit for tho past season I regret that I cannot place before you a healthier and more satisfactory statement of the financial position of the Club. The .season was commenced with a debit balance of £2 4s 6d and we have now a balance on the same side of the account but unfortunately increased to £5 2s 6c1,. against this there is a sum of £2 2s which I am informed we may expect from the Manawatu-Bau»iiikei Cricket Association for the use of our ground, thus leaving a balance of £3 0s 6d. Many supposed members when asked for subscriptions distinctly refused on the ground that they were never members and in dispite of many requests continued to indulge in cricket at the expense of a few boua fide sportsmen.
