Scorn 1 in Calves.
1 . p ~~* There is perhaps no ailment of calves which causes so great a percentage of loss to breeders as the disease known as the ' sconr'. Many thousands of calves die annually from this complaint throughout the colon y. So great has been the evil in the Taranaki district during the past few years that Mr W. A. Elhs, chemist, of Stratford, turned his attention to the preparation of a special drench for scour in calves, which has now become favorably known all over the West Coast. Mr Alex Conlson, the cattle breeder, wellknown and respected in the New Plymouth district, strongly advises the use of these 1 scour drenches,' which he states he has found to be a wonderful remedy. The drenches are now very largely used in the Wairarapa and other cattle-grazing districts of the Norch Island. Mr Ellis doe? not pretend that the remedy is one of those so-called universal ' cure-all' soecifics we read about, but he claims that for scour in calves it is a certain cure, and certainly experience seems to justify that claim. — N.Z.
