Feildiug Cycling Club.
The first annual general meeting of the above was held in the Club rooms last evening, there being a good attendance of members, Mr W. A. Sandilands (President) in the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Messrs A. Williamson and G. Haybittle wore elected members of the Club. In response to a letter from Mr j Prendergast, Hon. Sec. M.A.C , Mr I Feck was appointed Club's delegate at jibe meeting of the proposed Manawatu Athletic Protective Assoicalion, to be held on Wednesday next, at I Palmerston North. The balance-sheet was read and adopted, and showed tha receipts to bo £29 4s 6d, and expenditure £17 Os 4d. The Secretary read the report, which which was edopted and is as follows : report. In presenting the first annual report your Committee congratulate the members of the Club on the successful operations of the past season. The Club was inaugurated on October 29th, 1894, at a mcetimj convened by Mr S. Andrew, when ten gentlemen signified their intention of joining, since which, date the membership has steadily increased, and now there are thirty-eight on the members' roll. The credit balance of £12 14s 2d is highly satisfactory for the first year. On February 20th, 1895, the Club held a race meeting on the Feilding Oval, which was highly successful, and resulted in a net profit of £15 9s, £15 of which was deposited in the Post Office Savings Bank. The sum of £25 5s was given in prizes, exclusive of trophies, at this meeting. A smoke concert was held in the evening at which the gentlemen who assisted at the sports, competitors, aud others, were entertaiued. This concert cost the Club £8 lis 6d. A social was held in the Assembly Rooms on May 15th, and was a failure financially, resulting in a neb loss of M ls Sd. In addition to the race meeting mentioned above, the Club hold three road races, and two races on the Oval. These were for members of the F.C.C. only, and tho prizes consisted of medals (by various donors) a bookcase, and the cash entrance fees for the rac*; s. Your Committee wculd advocate holding as many road races as possible during next season, as tending to popularise cycling and create a healthy spirit of rivalry amongst tho Club members. Your Committee consider that the time has arrived for some action to be taken anent Jaying down a cinder track. The captain and vice- captain (to be elected this meetiug) will organise a scries of Club runs tor the ensuing season, at which it is to be hoped that all riding members will attend. The rules to be presented for adoption this evening have been carefully compiled from tho rules of the leading Cycling Clubs, aud your Committee truth they will meet with the approbation of Club members. Your Committee would suggest that the next race meeting be held on Anniversary Day, 22nd January, 1896, aud that it be an 'annual fixture ou that date. Your Committee desire to express their regret at losing the valuable service of Mr E. H. Ricketts as vice-captain and handicapper of Club. Your Committee would suggest that the opeuiug of tho ensuing season be on the last Wednesday in September and that a lantern parade be held in the evening. In conclusion your Committee desire to thank all those gentlemen who so ably assisted at the race meeting, also those who contributed financially towards the funds of the Cub. (Signed) —S. Fisher (re-elected). Bugler, Mr G. Haybittle ; and a Committee, viz., Messrs Way, J. Coombs, Mackenzie, Fowles, and Gapper. The Rules, as compiled by the Committee, were read and adopted. Votes of thanks to the officers of tho past season, and to the Chairman, terminated the proceedings. •
